(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said it has not arrested a driver who allegedly left the scene after driving through traffic cones and hitting a marked police cruiser that had its lights on responding to a previous crash.

According to CSPD, around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, a marked police cruiser was parked on the road near Garden of the Gods Road and Mark Dabling Boulevard with its lights on and traffic cones set up to protect the scene of a previous crash. Police on scene were waiting for a tow truck to arrive, as one of the cars involved in the earlier crash was undrivable.

While police waited for the tow truck, a pickup truck heading westbound on Garden of the Gods drove through the cones and hit the back end of the cruiser. The driver did not stop and continued westbound on Garden of the Gods, and as of Monday, had not been located.

The cruiser sustained minor damage, CSPD said, and no police officers were inside it at the time.
