Recommended Posts

Good Morning, Setting up our heavy and looking to see what everyone is running hand tool wise (sockets & etc.) Also what is the best airline fitting kit to purchase. Thank You

(Sorry in advanced if this is already a discussion)

For the air fittings I am using the AW Direct kit. That is a great kit in my opinion! I have never got into a situation where I didn't have what I needed. I also carry a few regular pipe thread fittings as well to tap directly into the air tanks, since sometimes that is the easier route. I don't know offhand what size they are though!

I will see if I can get some pictures of my other tools that I carry as well!

I use the same Air kit as above. I have a couple of magnet strips mounted in my main compartment that I keep all of the drive line & common used tools on. I have a box in the one compartment with all of the wrench & socket sets but this just speeds up my time for hook ups & what not...

I use the Sunnex 1/2" driveline sockets. I have a SAE and Metric set. They work really well with my 1/2" Impact on the bigger trucks. On some smaller trucks they are too big to fit in there.

If you are towing smaller stuff like F-450 box trucks and stuff, I usually use my 3/8 drive socket set with a small wobbly extension. Or the Gearwrench pictured below.

Another tool that is handy to have is a deep socket to cage the bolts on most trucks. I think it is a 3/4" made by the Lisle brand.
