Couple Of Uhauls...

Recommended Posts

Had a 26' Uhaul the other day that wasn't in my area but I took it figuring I could drum up some work for the shop. I was kicking myself in the azz getting in there though...I wasn't familure with the town and I think I saw more signs telling me that I shouldn't be where I was... "No Truck", "6 ton weight limit", ect... At one point the turn was so sharp on to a street going up a steep hill, I had to lock my rears in it and go up over the curbs to get around. When I finally saw the truck, all I could think was there was no way I'm getting this out of here if I have to.

They decided to load it in the hour it took me to get there...which I said well now that limits our solutions? I checked out a brake problem and found the rear caliper looked like it was on fire?

So they were going to a storage facility about 20 miles from my shop so that worked out. My problem was that if I hook it, we ain't getting off this mountain. The operator drove the truck a mile or so to the town where there was a shopping plaza where I could get to the rear of it and hook it...

Towed it to the storage facility 70 miles away, dropped it and went back for it once it was empty...

Went back to our shop for all of the repairs.

This one came in the other night as a theft recovery abandoned in a truck stop. I wanted to get it out of there since it was next to 2 different towing companies and we didn't want to add an impound to the drama...

No keys but Rob opened it for me. Then I had just enough room to side shoot the back and grab it...

We are making keys for it now and will go through it in the shop before it goes back in to service...
