TowForce
Tennessee woman seriously injured after colliding with tow truck on Thomas Drive BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A woman is injured after colliding with a flatbed tow truck on Thomas Drive on Saturday. Florida Highway Patrol officials said just after 5:30 a.m., a tow truck arrived on the scene to recover one of the vehicles from the DUI arrest that happened a few hours prior. The truck was parked in the center-left lane with amber lights activated and flashing. The tow truck operator had exited his vehicle and was coordinating the recovery with the on-scene trooper on the westbound of the roadway, officials said. According to a news release, a 65-year-old woman from Memphis, Tennessee driving an SUV was traveling eastbound on Thomas Drive approaching Cresent Street. The driver of the SUV failed to maintain a single lane or yield as it approached the emergency vehicles. As a result, she drove into the center lane causing the front left of the vehicle to collide with the flatbed of the tow truck, FHP officials wrote. The driver of the SUV is facing serious injuries, officials confirmed. The driver was removed from the vehicle by a trooper, an on-scene Bay County Sheriff’s deputy, and a bystander. The trooper rendered aid until the Bay County EMS arrived. RESOURCE LINK
