TowNews
A Grand Island man charged in a shooting spree that damaged a local auto shop and two vehicles has taken a plea deal. Troy Behnkin, 28, pleaded no contest to two counts of attempted unlawful discharge of a firearm and two counts of attempted use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. In exchange for his plea, additional counts of criminal mischief and obstructing a peace officer were dismissed. Capt. Dean Elliott said a tow truck driver was unloading a vehicle at Ken’s Auto, 823 W Anna Street, just before 11 p.m. Feb. 28, when a man came out of his apartment and shot multiple times. Elliott said the owner of the vehicle was in her pickup near the tow truck. He believes Behnken was using a shotgun based on the damage and witness statements.
