TowNews
BRIDGETON– A stretch of eastbound Interstate 70 in Bridgeton is back open Tuesday morning after being completely closed overnight after a woman was struck and killed on the highway. The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on I-70 east in Bridgeton, near the McKelvey Road overpass not far from I-270. The victim, Robin Helm, 36, was pronounced dead on the scene. 70 eastbound was completely shut down for a little more than two hours overnight after Helm was hit and killed. The ramps from 270 onto 70 east were also closed. The incident involved a large commercial vehicle, likely a tow truck, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol. According to the authorities, a 33-year-old man from St. Peters was operating the vehicle, and it had damage. The man did stop and remained on the scene after the incident. It’s unclear why Helm was on the highway at that time. RESOURCE LINK
